MLB Bustered

Stayed up late to watch the end of the S.F. Giants game last night. I’m not a Giants fan, in fact as an A’s fan my suppressed violent jealousy of their beautifully fancy, on the water masterpiece of a ballpark forces me to root against them on most nights. The game was decided on a run scored by a little known S.F. native playing for the opposing Florida Marlins. On the play, Giants catcher Buster Posey, who in S.F. is only surpassed by Gavin Newsom in the, men wanna be him/women wanna do him/men wanna do him category, was brutally injured on a collision at home plate. Under the rules of MLB baseball, it is 100% legal for a base runner to catapult himself through the catcher if the plate is being blocked. And even in the circles amongst players, last night’s play would be spoken of as a “clean hit” and  “not a dirty one”. The extent of Posey’s injuries have yet to be determined but the most elementary of naked eyes knows it ain’t good. I’m a traditionalist and there is no organizational anything that I love more than baseball but something has to be done by the MLB brass to avoid the loss of these young studs to potentially career ending injuries. It’s in the best interest of all parties. Owners are invested financially, fans are invested emotionally, and MLB is invested in the owners and fans. At least release a statement Mr. Bud. Let us know that you possess even a sunflower seed's iota of interest beyond the bottom line. The catcher in baseball is the only of nine that has the ability to influence it's outcome in all three facets; pitching, batting, and defense. Protect the catcher/Protect the game.
